Alexandra Couchie | Artist Statement
Alexandra Couchie is a self-taught artist who makes her home in London, Ontario, and is a proud member of Nipissing First Nation. She explores a blend of traditional woodland styles with both impressionism and realism utilizing a variety of mediums including oils, acrylics, dry media, and digital art. She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree with a double major in Indigenous Studies and Philosophy at the University of Western Ontario.Biography

Indigenous Mural Collaboration
Regional HIV/AIDS Connection and Ontario Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Strategy, London, Ontario November, 2024 - December, 2024
Collaborated with Sean Couchie on a 17' × 16' wall mural for the Regional HIV/AIDS
Connection and Ontario Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Strategy in the community area.Used acrylic paint on the Wampum Belt and wolf portion of the mural, representing the Oneida Nation of the Thames and the Munsee-Delaware Nation.
Art Works for Scholar's Choice Indigenous Puzzle Sets-Scholar's Choice

Created a collection of 12 woodland style inspired digital pieces each symbolizing different animals of Turtle Island.
Works created specifically for the production of puzzle sets for sale by Scholar's Choice intended for ages 10 monthst.
Collaborative Piece in Residential Desk Proiect

Participated in an exhibit featuring antique school desks to honour lives of children who attended residential schools.
Using acrylic paint, collaborated with Sean Couchie on the painting of monarch butterflies on a desk.
