BRAD TURNER
Photographer, Director, Producer
Award-winning Executive Producer/Director, Brad Turner, has over 400 episodes of iconic and compelling dramatic television to his credit. Born and raised in Bayfield, Ontario, Canada, he graduated with honors from the Television Arts Program at H.B. Beal Secondary School in London, Ontario, and upon graduation joined SCTV, where he spent his first five professional years working on the Emmy Award-winning series.
Brad gained global acclaim in 2005 while directing the CBC miniseries HUMAN CARGO, which won several Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Director, and garnered a prestigious Peabody Award. He then worked on the Canadian television series, LA FEMME NIKITA, created by Joel Surnow. Joel then moved on to create the hit FOX series, 24, and Brad subsequently joined the show, both as a director and supervising producer. During his five-year tenure there, Brad directed 46 episodes, was promoted to executive producer, and in Season 5, Brad and the show won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. Most recently he was in Vancouver serving as Executive Producer and Director on the FOX series, ALERT, starring Scott Caan.
Other television directing credits include: VWARS, THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES, DESIGNATED SURVIVOR, WAYWARD PINES, DAREDEVIL, LEGENDS, HOMELAND, LAS VEGAS, HAWAII FIVE-0, THE LAST SHIP, FALLING SKIES, and PRISON BREAK.
Brad served as Executive Producer and Director of TRIGGER POINT, a feature film starring Barry Pepper and Colm Feore. The film was shot in Bayfield and Hamilton, Ontario. Recently, he produced and was the cinematographer for the short film, TO HOLD THE NIGHT, directed by Jessica Petelle and filmed in Bayfield and on Lake Huron.
Having grown up in Bayfield, Brad borrowed money from his parents, Ede and Grant Turner, to buy his first 35mm Pentax film camera when he was 15 years old. Even at a young age his focus was always to capture the impermanence of Bayfield and preserve memories of growing up in a small lakeside community. After years of travelling, Brad has always considered Bayfield home. He is happiest when he is here with his wife Jessica and their dog, Jack.
